The space
Built for their kind of afternoon.
This isn't a waiting room with a toy box in the corner. Children stay with children their own age, in rooms built for what that age actually needs.

No membership to sign up for and no schedule to commit to. Show up, or call ahead and we'll hold a spot.

Sign in at the lobby
First visit means the five forms — after that it's a signature, shoes in a cubby, and you're out the door.

They play with their own age group
Children stay with children their own age, so the activities actually suit them. No three-year-old in with the nine-year-olds.

Pick up when you're done
Pay for the time they used — debit, credit, cash or check. Late pick-up is $1 a minute after close, so set a reminder.

Registration is $50 per child or $100 per family. Open Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 6:30pm. Please call 913-422-9999 for full-time and part-time rates.

Care is charged by the hour. Full-time children receive a credit only if you call by 9am the day of service to cancel. Late payments incur a $25 late payment fee. Payments are due the day or week of service.

What parents ask first.
What is KID STOP, exactly?
Think of us as on-call child care. A child can play once or many times, and parents pay only for the time the child plays. People use us for the doctor, the gym, holiday shopping, a pedicure, a haircut, or lunch with friends.
Why drop-in instead of guaranteed enrollment?
The open-door approach keeps our rates low and gives you the flexibility to bring your child whenever you want. You're not committed to a certain day of the week or a specific time.
Can I book ahead?
Yes — and we encourage it. A reservation guarantees your child a spot. Without one, care is first come, first served.
Why is registration and immunization required?
The registration fee processes your information and tells us how many children may drop in. Because KID STOP is a licensed child care facility, immunizations are required by Kansas state law.
What does my child need to bring?
Energy, socks, and a change of clothes for infants to three-year-olds. A sheet and blanket if they might nap, and a snack if they're particular. Infants should bring diapers, wipes, a fitted crib sheet and prepared bottles — we have a fridge for snacks and bottles. Label everything.
What if they get sleepy or hungry?
A child can nap whenever they're sleepy — send a sheet and blanket. Snacks can come from home or be bought from us; the snack menu is posted in the lobby.
Do you change diapers? Do you potty train?
We change diapers — please provide diapers and wipes. We don't potty train: a child in training stays in the toddler room until they're fully trained, so tell our staff and they'll help.
What if my child soils their clothes?
We'll change them into the clothes you provided. If there's nothing in their bag, we'll dress them in KID STOP clothing and you're charged for it — $5 a top, $5 a bottom, $3 underwear, $1 a diaper.
How do you handle an unruly child?
They're separated from the situation and redirected straight away. If they're old enough, the behaviour is explained and corrected with alternatives.
Do you care for children with special needs?
We don't provide one-on-one care, so it depends on how much supervision a child's needs require. Call and we'll talk it through honestly.
How can I pay — and do you refund?
Debit cards, credit cards, cash and checks. We don't offer refunds.
Can we book a room for a birthday party?
Yes. You can reserve a room for a special occasion — ask about the party specials in our rooms.

Every form below has to be completed by your child's first visit. Download them and bring them along, or stop by and we'll hand you an enrollment packet. Medical forms need a pediatrician's signature.
